Welcome to Google Sites- Beginner!

Today we'll discover what all the fuss is about with Google and why it seems like everyone has their own Google Site. So come on and let's learn the basics; how to create your site, editing and adding media, changing the appearance and sharing. We'll get you ready for advanced use of Google Sites.

I'll show you some some steps, demonstrate and let you try, then answer some questions.

Creating a Google Site

  1. Create a Google account
  2. Sign in
  3. Click create new site
    • Choose a theme.
    • Name your site.
      • More Options
        • Site descripton.
        • Share with?
        • Type in code.
        • Click create site.

Edit and Add Media

  1. Change heading
    • Edit page.
    • Enter new heading.
  2. Edit main content area
    • Create 2 columns.
      • Click Layout.
      • Click 2 columns.
  3. Insert an image
    • Click Insert => Image.
    • Browse for your image.
    • Click ok.
  4. Edit image
    • Resize.
    • Change alignment.
  5. Enter text
    • Type your text.
    • Use formatting to cuten it up.

Changing the Appearance of Your Site

  1. Themes- change background
    • Click More Actions.
    • Manage site.
    • Click Themes, choose cutest one.
    • Save changes.
  2. Color and Fonts
    • Click colors and fonts.
    • Lots of options for customizing.
      • Change Image.
      • Change header, footer, and side.
      • Etc.
  3. Site layout
    • Change site layout
    • Header.
    • Horizontal navigation bar.
    • Sidebar.
    • Page content.
    • Footer.

Sharing Your Site

  1. Share your site
    • Click Share this site.
    • Paste URL into an email.
    • Share the link using: Gmail, Facebook, Twitter...
    • Add people to share.
      • As an owner, to edit or view
      • Click Share.
